    [Highly rated reviewer]

Low budget, deeply silly tale about a leprechaun (Warwick Davis) who hitches a ride from Ireland to retrieve his pot of gold then kills those responsible for taking it; but only after they imprison him in the basement with the help of a four-leaf clover.

Skip forward ten years and enter a hunky handyman, ditsy city girl (Jennifer Aniston, bet she wishes this wasn't available any more and she'd had the nose job even sooner) a mentally handicapped painter and an irritating bowl-cutted kid. Cue much silliness, gore and tasteless bad rhymes (normally pairing 'killing' with 'shilling') as the leprechaun commits reckless, hilarious murder while trying to find his missing gold.

Ridiculous and cheap, certainly; but if you can take that as a given there's a lot of fun to be had here - shoe throwing diversion techniques, fridge hiding, mullets, creepy hands coming out of phones, bad early 90s clothes, Shining-esque tricycle action, one of the richest actors in the world camping it up like a good ‘un and a suitably tacky final showdown.

Realistically this film is really about a two and a half, but for fans of cheesy camp horror it’s a real trash gem. Check your brain in, then sit back and enjoy.

(Incidentally, if you take to it, there’s FIVE sequels all starring Warwick Davis - the best being number three: Leprechaun in Las Vegas)

Truely dreadful. I can't believe they made sequels. One of the worst films I have ever seen. Watch it if you wanna see a pre nose job Jennifer Aniston, but don't come back to me complaining if it sucks.

if you're in the mood for a ridiculous movie about a leprechaun seeking murderous revenge for people stealing his pot of gold, then this is the movie for you.

almost slapstick right from the very beginning, it has fun, reasonable gore (for a 15) and plenty of mad scenarios to keep you entertained right till the end!

This movie will immensely please the 'so bad it's good' brigade and will really annoy anyone wanting a serious horror film or quality comedy horror. Leprechaun is camp, ridiculous horror. If you are looking for something to genuinely frighten you - look elsewhere. If you are looking to chuckle at something amusingly predictable, which could only have been made in the 80s then Leprechaun is your man. This only loses a star because it's not as well-made as Gremlins, Childs Play 2 and stuff like that. I also particularly recommend Leprechaun 6: Leprechaun in the hood for another tour de force of far fetched fun.

I really enjoyed this film, even tho it is ment to be a horror i found it very funny. I love horror movies with funny little charaters such as chucky from the child's play movies and the little monster in cats eye, so the Leprechaun was right up my street and i am really looking forward to watching the rest of the movies
