    Oh dear!

    Patrice Laconte is one of my favourite directors and I can recommend virtually everything else in his filmography but this one is a very early work and is truly dreadful. It lacks virtually everything that makes much French cinema and Laconte's work so wonderful: wit, style, grace, humour, sensitivity, depth, originality thought-provoking ideas and scenarios - none of that here at all. Thank goodness that Patrice Laconte was given further chances to develop his art! I wouldn't even recommend this as a curiosity for fellow Laconte fans.

    For vintage wifeswoppers only

    Oh dear, there is nothing worse than yesterday's 'racy' sex comedy... a sort of French version of a creaky old Ray Cooney farce, of vintage fashion and sociological interest only, set in one of those 1970s holiday camps, albeit on some Polynesian French former colony with thinly-veiled racist attitudes. Half-expected Barbara Windsor to ping her bra straps at me...
