    Great Entertainment

It had been a while since I last saw this and in that time I had forgotten just how good this film is. If like me you are looking for a piece of pure entertainment then you cannot go to far wrong with this. The pacing of the film is perfect, always providing something to keep you watching when it threatens to slow down too much. The action sequences still hold up today with a plot which moves on nicely. This film is by no means perfect but the central performances far outweigh any slight plot holes. The first and best of the Lethal Weapon series.

    Original...and best

The original LW is a classic among the 'buddy' cop genre, and is played much harder than the rather comedic sequels that followed it.

Glover and Gibson are excellent at the mis-matched cops partnered together, who slowly develop great respect and friendship through the traumatic events of the case they are working on.

Gary Busey is memorable as the albino villian Mr Joshua, the action set pieces are handled well by Richard Donner (Director) and the soundtrack features work by Eric Clapton amongst others.

After this the series went downhill somewhat, although LW2 was saved by the tireless efforts of Patsy Kensit's delicious looking nipples and general all-round shaggability.

Superior to its sequels (as is almost always the way with Hollywood) and recommended for a typical 'Pizza n Beer' evening.

    Beginnings of a classic series

I've always loved the lethal weapon series and can recommend this one without hesitation, the banta between Gibson and Glover cannot be beaten and it's clear why they decided to make so many more of them, these guys work so well together. The action is all there as are the gags and the story line so if you want a fun film that won't force you to think too much then go for it.

As for the directors cut, there are a few extra scenes that I've never seen before, such as the suicidal attemts from Gibson to kill a sniper, so by going for this version you do get more than the average version shown on TV.

Without a doubt, one of the best on-screen duo's for comdedy and action, culminating in one of the best series of films ever (well, in my eyes anyway)

    I expected more...

Generally considered as a classic, I found Lethal Weapon to be slightly underwhelming, especially in comparison to another 80s action film, Die Hard. The buddy-cop aspect has been done a thousand times since, but Lethal Weapon handles it well, with the old time officer ordered to look after Mel Gibson?s wild cop. Lacking the humour of the sequel, the film seems to take itself a bit too seriously, though the action scenes are solid, and the casting is spot on. The final showdown, however, is a bit lacklustre, poorly shot and hard to follow, though, as a whole, the film is enjoyable action fare.

    Gung Ho!

I am huge fane of Mel Gibson, and therefore feel a bit biased, but the Lethal Weapon quadilogy (have I just invented a new word?), although a bit dated, still has me glued to the seat; humour, action and good all round family entertainment.. everything a discerning film fan needs!

    Excelent action film

I have seen this film several times and each time it gets better. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover work well together as the two cops, and the comedy does not detract from the plot, no speciel effect to spoil the action.

The original and still the best of the 4 movies. A treat to watch again, and again. Would recommend this movie to all.
