This film is over two hours long, but passed by in what seemed like ten minutes,
A truly amazing and deeply moving cinema experience not to be missed by anyone with just the slightest interest in events from ww2.
You feel like you are there on the island suffering every emotion and fear with the brilliant cast of actors,
How this film missed out on a Oscar to the most over rated film of all time The Departed will remain a mystery to me.
OK film ; nothing particularly surprising as , if seen ' Flags of our Father's ' then you know pretty much what you're in for ( 2 sides to every coin ; but instead of flags as part of the main theme it's ... letters !! ). Obviously , this one is done slightly ' on the cheap ' as Clint used a bit of the same footage as in ' Flags & Dad's ' ( also made cheaper on the production side as same location shots , etc ).
My only ( and main ) gripe is this stupid ' almost black & white ' appearance ( new ' art house ' approach ,I dare say ). So remember to adjust your colour on the tv set to ' high ' ( much better then : same with ' 300 ' ; so adjust the colour on that one too : all the better for it ).Plus subtitles don't come on automatically , so need to press ' subtitles on ' .

In a taped interview for U.S. news show 60 Minutes, Perry says, "That p**ses me off. It really does - because it's so insulting. "It's attitudes like that that... Read more
