Surprisingly, Kai and Xev can sing. Yes, that's right kiddos -singing.
Frightening concept, I know, but Xena had a musical episode and so Lexx had to follow. Personally, I was impressed with the music itself (and no, this does not come from a Broadway fan) and I made an audio CD compilation with the songs in this Lexx installment. Guaranteed a laugh with this one, the costumes are hilarious! It's the fact that Lexx does ridiculous humour completely deadpan that really sends this musical story off. It tells the story of Kai and the Brunnen G, the immortal race and society he comes from. It tells the tale of Kai as he was in life before he became an undead assassin and of an old flame of his. The scene changes to His Divine Shadow passing over Brunnus 2 and how Kai came to destroy him with the help of the Time Prophet, who he visits at one point on a moon of Brunnus 2 for advice on how to find a good way to die. It's as involving as it is funny.
This is definitely very weird sci-fi and I found it difficult to follow the plot if there was one. Also the characters are completely wacky.
This series probably has a cult following and you need to sit down and concentrate on it to have a chance of knowing what is going on.
I would recommend seeing Series 1 first if you haven't seen it, before tackling Series 2 in case that helps with some background information. I might rent it again when I have a chance of concentrating on what's happening.
