I have watched a few of Robin Williams more recent releases and been less than impressed, forget them, Robin is back to his best in this very funny, often hilarious, skit about the vagaries of modern proposals, the inlaws and the ceremony. An excellent marriage of laughter and romance in perfect measure. It definately hit the spot for me, a great light funny watch that I definately recommend.
Not bad entertainment value, not good, but, save for a few lapses there is much to raise a smile or two if you are a Robin Williams fan; but if not, could be a little too silly. The pace is good, with those few pauses, and the theme, whilst predictable, has some, but too few, interesting moments of true pre-marital reflection. Robin Williams, as the man in the dog collar, is as unbelievable as ever; the lead couple fairly average and down-to-earth; and the bride-to-bes family as dysfunctional as are all of ours. The cocktail of characters (pale in comparison to Williams - is that deliberate?) needed more direction and exaggeration; the plot yearned for more outlandishness and thus failed to deliver any conviction, being neither believable nor truly funny in its attempt at comic farce. Would I watch it again - NO; but you may wish to, the first time, if you are a Williams fan (sorry to repeat that) - if not, you may wish to avoid - there are better.
