This film was truly wonderful. A real tear jerker at the same time as being a feel good movie.

Life As a House tackles some taboo topics and does so very well, without being judgemental or patronising e.g. Gay prostitution, drunk driving, abusive relationships etc...

Kevin Kline offers a fantastic performance and surprisingly Hayden Christensen isn't out shone and holds his own as a convincing troubled teenager. Definitely one for the DVD collection.

  • An actual hidden gem!

This film completely passed me by and I only found it in 2013. However, I can honestly say it's one of the best films I've seen in a long time. The direction & performances are all strong, and heartfelt. Although the story is a bit of a tear-jerker, it veers away from ever getting too slushy. I would recommends this to anyone!

  • A house with a captivating story

This film was just what I needed at the time. It's not overly sentimental, the acting is good, the story a bit pat but overall a wonderful and enjoyable film. It was fun and escapist but realistic. Much better than your usual rom com (and this wasn't really that either) - just a really lovely take on a situation which was potentially very depressing.....Great scenary and nice looking actors too.....;)

Beautifully written and a great great cast. Avoided wonderfully being sentimental even though a real tear jerker which I wasnt expecting as I didnt read the reviews.
