Nominees unveiled for Bafta bash

Period drama Cranford, which stars Oscar winner Dame Judi Dench, dominates the field in the nominations for this year's British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) TV awards. The show has picked up four nods, including Programme of the Year and a Best Actress nomination for Dench. Red Dwarf has topped a poll to find the best loved science fiction television shows ever. The series, which finished airing original episodes in 1999, starred Chris Barrie and Craig Charles as two of the survivors on a spaceship, forced to co-habit with a mechanoid and a feline-human hybrid. Compiled by the Radio Times, the top ten saw The X-Files in second place - another show which has now stopped production.
