Released straight to video in this country, this is a perfect vehicle for the flustered charms of Michael J Fox, who's on to every trick as the thespian who turns agent after the public stops finding him cute. What makes his performance particularly good is the grace with which he accepts the fact he's been set up to lose every scene to Christina Vidal, as the little urchin he steers to stardom. Their relationship is great fun to watch, but the jabs at fame and advertising are delivered without any real conviction.
Pleasant, undemanding, unmemorable comedy.
This movie has enough laughs and touching moments to make it very worth watching. My favorite part is the child auditioning at the end and singing her heart out. Cyndi Lauper is very funny too.
