LOVEFiLM Review
-
By Jennifer Trevorrow from LOVEFiLM
Unscripted and off the cuff, writer/director Drake Doremus' Like Crazy is a refreshingly honest take on long-distance love, and boy does it pull at the heart strings.

Real Love
By manonfireuk (299 reviews) from Liverpool , 08 Jul 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Most films of this type I can take or leave and are instantly forgettable but there was something very different about this one. It had a level of realism that most films about relationships are missing. The behaviour of the characters was very recognisable and true to how people behave in an impossible situation, you start to fight and resent the one person you shouldn't be fighting with because there is no-one else to blame. Plus the ending was very good, it's not a Hollywood ending but that's not to say it's a happy or a sad ending, just one very much based in reality.- Was this review helpful to you?

Love across the miles
By glenndi (30 reviews) , 12 Mar 2013[Highly rated reviewer]
The film is not a romantic comedy as viewers may first imagine it to be. The film actually portrays young love and how dificult it is to maintain a long distance relationship. I thought that the acting was excellent and very natural. As the characters journeyed into adulthood and realised that they could not get away with breaking rules the weight of their sorrow and frustration was evident. The ending was realistic and not set up to make the viewer feel good. The film pace is slow enabling the characters to develop and so it may not be a film for people who prefer action and drama.- Was this review helpful to you?

A new favourite..Natural and Heartwarming
By Elizabethan (1 review) , 09 Mar 2013Admittedly I'm a complete lover of predictable, heart warming chick flicks and expected this film to be much of the same. However I was completely drawn into the very real nature of the characters lives, relating to their experiences. The emotions portrayed seemed very natural and it was good to see new and in my opinion underrated faces on the screen. The story didn't follow the same cookie cutter chick flick storyline. I didn't find it predictable or boring, instead it had my full attention from start to finish. Would definitely watch again and have already recommended this to my friends!- Was this review helpful to you?

Not worth wasting your time on this
By alessandra1 (5 reviews) , 05 Mar 2013Gosh, what a sad excuse of a film. The two leads are so annoying it is impossible to warm to them, especially the girl who's constantly going around with a long face. Serious issues are only touched upon to concentrate on a boring, predictable story-line.- Was this review helpful to you?

Rom non-dom
By Appleford (14 reviews) , 01 Mar 2013Unlike the sponsored reviewer's above, my heart strings weren't tweaked let alone pulled by this tale of self-deluded and, what is worse, duplicitous
'lovers'.
Much has been made of the improvisatory nature of the dialogue, but this is an indulgent technicality if the storyline and its characters have low audience engagement.
The cinematographic standard was high, however, with some genuinely innovative shots and scenes.
Supporting roles were really well played, but the two leads were really difficult to relate to.
The plot offered an opportunity to critique exploitative visa and immigration regulations, but this aspect of the story was let slip as the 'romantic drama' unfolded.- Was this review helpful to you?
