    Poor old Mickey....

This is quite possibly the worst film I’ve seen all year and, as a horror fan, I watch a lot of crap. The only thing that would take me longer than describing everything that is wrong with this film would be to sit here and try to come up with something good to say about it.

Starting off life as a vampire movie, as someone reveals in the ‘making of’, it now involves some convent girls, witchcraft and a demon who picks them off by putting them into a trance during which, generally, they take their clothes off and kill themselves in unimaginative ways. This ‘evolution’ in the script probably occurred when the makers realized that a few pairs of fangs were way out of their budget. Clearly though, this was not made with any sort of clear vision other than ‘let’s make a movie, put some naked girls in it and hold our breath for a distribution deal’. And somehow they got one.

So the script is bad, and the lack of cash affects every other aspect of the movie, especially the sound which is dreadful throughout, and the cast (who I can only presume worked for free, so limited in talent are they).

Other than myself for having watched it, the only person I feel sorry for in all this is the legendary Mickey Rooney. I simply cannot explain the appearance of the soon-to-be 88 year old Oscar winning star in this. I offer myself theories like ‘his grandson is the director and he’s doing him a favour’, or ‘he’s blown all his money, and is living in abject poverty and has been reduced to working for cheese and biscuits’, or simply that he just got hijacked on his weekly stroll through the park, which would explain the setting of his only scene – but I just don’t know. Anyway, we should take better care of our Hollywood veterans and prevent such travesties from happening again.

    In conclusion, not recommended…
