(10)Slightly unengaging effort - but OK.

It seemed to be an endless stream of skirmishes and things blowing up, interspered with many scenes designed to engender pathos and emotion. A few did but a lot did not. Amazing cast but not their best roles I would say. Quin is good as the Bedouin leader Mokhtar - Gielgud is faintly comical as some Quisling character. Steiger is pretty wooden as Mussolini. I did like the vehicles the Italians had - good old Fiats and I suppose the pomposity of the occupiers comes accross quite well.- Was this review helpful to you?
