I was fascinated to see the development of the theme - I felt it appeared to be a reasonable glimpse of life in those days. Some STUNNING imagery and photocomposition.

  • Freedom in Modern Art

Beautifully shot film depicting the relationship of a young Salvador Dali with the revolutionary poet Federico Garcia Lorca, I cant understand the negative reviews except to say that perhaps they were written by young Robert Pattinson fans expecting another Twilight. Pattinson, although slightly miscast in the role of Dali, does a great job and Javier Beltrans performance was simply breathtaking. The film depicts a difficult and sad time in Spanish history which underpins a story which not only gives us an insight into Dali's early life but examines the meaning of freedom in all its forms I particularly liked the use of Garca Lorcas poems in their native Spanish. A must for any Modern Art / Literary enthusiast.

The acting was good, but the story dragged from time to time, a story of revolution and the finding of sexual freedom when homosexuality was an offence carrying a prison sentence.

“Little Ashes” a film about the relationship between Federico Garcia Lorca the poet and Salvador Dali the painter....well that’s the cover story but it’s a great film about getting to know yourself and having the courage to really follow your heart even if the outcome may finish badly....it’s powerfully waving the flag for being authentic and not a meek follower.....loved it!

  • completely over-oddly done, depressively-toned, yucky movie

RPatz actually does act the part of such a mad person really well as the film carries on so i suppose his performance became interesting, BUT the movie was trash, there was only about 1 moment of worthwhile statement that actually got through to the audience in all that this movie was attempting to portray, not at all worth ploughing through the rest of such a weirdly made movie for - so overall do not recommend wasting time on this. Even if you are an artsy/weirdy person who likes alternative stuff i doubt very very much you will feel in any way enhanced or educated by this or find much admiration for this at all, just not made right in my opinion. Odd angle, underdone storyline, barely made interesting, badly done. there was so much to this time, so much more could've been made of it.. and terrible accents!
