Wasn't expecting that...

I rented this in a peeking-between-your-fingers kind of way, I have a moderate interest in art, I like Dali and have some knowledge of his life and the theme of the film, and I have seen the Twilight films and am thus aware of Robert Pattinson... so I rented it expecting to be disapointed.
I though it was likely to be RP attempting to break out of the confines of popular tweeny cinema and falling into worst movie ever history books in one fell swoop. I thought it would be awful if we are honest, but had to look (car crash cinema).
From a few minutes in I was suprised. The accents take a little getting used to, and I'm not sure how well they would sound to a native speaker, but after 20 minutes you dont notice them anymore.
RP's acting is sweet and uncomfortable and kind of fascinating, much like Dali by all acounts. Giving a real feel for the characte and story, several very strong supporting performances and lovely cinematics I was wrapt from the get go.
My only regret was that I wasted some time looking for faults that werent there instead of enjoying this sweet little arts film. forget who's playing the hero until it's over, then look forward to his next under-the-radar flick :)
