By the generally poor standards of straight-to-video Disney sequels, this second aquatic outing provides reasonable entertainment. Targeting a younger home audience, the film's new heroine is Ariel's 12-year-old daughter Melody, whose underwater ancestry has been kept hidden to protect her from the evil influence of Ursula's bitter sister Morgana. As expected, the animation is unexceptional and the tunes aren't in the same Oscar winning league as Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's buoyant originals. On the positive side, the same voice cast return, joined by some amusing new characters, headed by a heroic penguin and walrus duo. The action finale, as Morgana wields King Triton's trident, is colourfully staged.
my 9 year old daughter Bethany loved this film. It is the story of Melody, Ariel and Eric's beautiful daughter, who wants to become a mermaid. But a threat from Ursula's evil sister Morgana, forces Ariel and Eric to conceal Melody's mermaid heritage from her. But despite her parents orders, Melody longs to venture into the sea and become a mermaid.
Melody becomes a pawn in Morgana's plot against King Triton, and in her revenge against Ariel.
To do this she transforms Melody into a mermaid, and tells her too retrieve the Trident from Triton (not knowing that he is Melody's Grandfather).
In order to get her daughter back and to save Atlantica, Ariel Returns to the sea to be reunited with her childhood friends Sebastian, Flounder and Scuttle.
This delightful film sees the Return of an all star cast, which made the first Little Mermaid story into a spectacular film.
Jodi Benson returns in her role as Ariel, and Samuel E Wright returns as Sebastian, Pat Carrol as Morgana and Buddy Hacket as Scuttle.
It is a memorable movie with new songs, and new characters, that are truly not too be missed.
my daughter loved this film so much i had to go out and buy it
brill film
This was a huuuuuuuuuge dissapointment. I really didn't think it would be this bad, it's Disney!!!!!
The songs are very bad, the characters (new ones) are like rejects from ice age. It's also very repeatative! I noticed that a few lines are copied from the first too, they must have been stuck for ideas or something.
I glad that this was given to me as a gift and that I didn't waste my own money on it.
It was just really bad, I cringed all the way through. If I was you I wouldn't bother, that way you will always think of how great the first was. I can imagine Walt Disney spinning in his grave over this one!
Brilliant sequel to the first one My kids loved it and i like it too
