The documentary was slightly misleading as it did not put the whole ?Britpop? period in any context (e.g. from a musical point of view Britpop was heavily influenced by the likes of 'the Smiths' and 'the Clash'). Also the importance of 'Britpop' period is inflated to such an extent you would think it was the most important cultural period in modern British history.

Seriously, this so-called era was not an earth shattering culturally defining moment that this documentary makes it out to be. Yes a few bands came out with a couple of good albums which made people slightly happier however lets get real! Also the documentary does not emphasise that 'Britpop' died because the music became formulaic and crap.

My personal view is that with the exception of 'Sleeper' most of the bands from this era will be largely forgotten in 10 years time.

Overall, the documentary was engaging. Good for remembering the days of my youth, but I would take it with a pinch of salt.
