Great film, there is so much action and suspense, you never know what is going to happen next. Also plently of political historical and social content. It is probably the best action thriller I've ever seen. I would definately say it was a 5 star film. Even if it were completely fictional it would still be brilliant film, but the fact that that is largely true makes it an even more amazing story. I recommend that everyone sees this film.
This film is a tense thriller and what makes it even more exciting is the fact it is based on a true story of an ETA informant.
We see life through his eyes. We see the ways and perceptions of la Guardia Civil in the Franco era and how they treated the Basques. We also see the Basque ETA view of the Spanish situation. The protagonist is caught between the two sides and throughout the film the viewer is unsure if he will go one way or the other. He represents the Basques who were happy to carry on with their lives without getting political through ETA, until he had no choice. We also get the insight into ETA and seeing the struggles within the group itself.
I feel it is good for Spain to come out with more films dealing with the ETA issue as it is an ongoing struggle within Spain. The best aspect of this film is that it didn't glorify the terrorist side of ETA. Like the protagonist we are left unsure of which side to take.
