A good old fashioned western
By a customer from DURSLEY , 05 Apr 2010I watched this before, many years ago when it first came out but it's lost none of it's appeal second time around. The film allows you an insight into what life was like way back then and the huge distances people travelled for what they saw as a better life. Things haven't changed that much in that respect!- Was this review helpful to you?

Lonesome Dove
By misschoos (2 reviews) from Wales , 13 Sep 2009I'm not quite sure who the 'Lonesome Dove' is in this film, but I am guessing it was Augustus; quite the ladies man.
An excellent insight into the way America was.
I got this film as I was struggling to read the book, finding it hard to picture everything and to understand the dialect. The film explains all that, but is not as informative as the book. If you enjoyed the film, I would recommend reading the book afterwards, which will only enhance your enjoyment of this story.
My only disappointment with this DVD was the fact it's on two separate DVD's and I had to wait a few days to watch part 2.- Was this review helpful to you?
