Long Weekend

In my top 3 of worst films ever made. Completely pointless film made worse by the slow pace, irrelevent scenes and major movie mistakes. Second scene shows torrential rain on the drive to the beach but 2 min later when he throws a cigarette out the window it manages to start a small fire! Did the director forget about the rain or does Australia outback have supersonic drying time?

The acting was good considering the weak script but nothing could hide the sheer pointlessness of the film. I appreciate that the point they were trying to make was nature fighting back but they did it in such a lacklustre, slow and undramatic fashion that you were left wondering why you had sat down to watch this in the first place. The fact that the wife gets 'killed' by the fishing gun harpoon in the forest was the final straw - surely if nature were fighting back she would have been crushed by a snake, eaten by a wild animal or poisoned by one of the many dangerous found in Austrailia. 120 mins I would rather have spent tweezing individual hairs from my leg.
