    Brilliant piece of history

Michael Gambon is marvellous as John Harrison and to see his frustration as he tries to prove that his invention is just what is needed is amazing.

At one stage I wanted to wring Brian Cox's neck for being so stupid and narrow minded in turning down yet another application by Gambon.

I know Gambon got a knighthood and if it wasn't for this performance it should have been. Really excellent.

    excellent and informative

A dramatisation of Dava Sobel's book of the same name. This stars M Gambon as Harrison the creator of the first accurate marine chronometer, which was instrumental in England becoming the masters of the seven seas - wonderful as a costume drama or as a piece of flag waving patriotism this drama-doc scores highly on many levels
