Once again, I was tempted towards this film because of the considerable talents of Anthony La Paglia, but felt that his skills were shoved into the background. There were flashes of beauty in this film and the acting was excellent in places, but, as so often in modern films, the script let it down. One striking problem was the needless obscenity. In such films as Sin City or L.A.Confidential, obscenity is absolutely necessary. Here it was used as a crude way of portraying the angst of the daughter and for no other purpose. If a script-writer has to resort to obscenity to convey such an emotion then you know you're in trouble.
I loved this film from the first time I watched it. Not only do you get wonderful views of Sydney life you get a great story line, great family troubles and a happy ending!
