If you are going to take a crash course in the perverse humour that was the genious of Joe Orton, for heaven's sake don't start with this film.
My suggestion would be Entertaining Mr. Sloane where you will be able to guffaw and snigger to your heart's delight at the sheer poetry of Orton's script.
Loot unfortunately is nothing more than a bumbling mess.
In my very humble opinion, the sniggering pinnacle of Orton's recorded work is What the Butler saw (televised by the BBC in the early 1980's (not sure if there is a DVD available, but that is pure bliss from start to end.
Loot was a total snore despite an able cast of O' Shea, Remmick and Attenborough.
