Despite this showing gun whielding people who are exceptionally trigger happy, the masacre of innocent people and the death of a person close to Yuri (Nicolas Cage) the most shocking part has to be at the end of the movei becuase love him or hate him it is revealed that the five biggest arms suppliers in the world are USA, UK, France, Russia and China (oh nad they are also the permant 5 member of the UN security council). I think that is the whole point of this movie, we are supposed to be appauled by ths man and his life but in fact he is small fries in comparision to the governments. The movie is good but shocking and full of blood shed. Not a fast paced action but well worth seeing.

  • Fantastic film and a true story too

I found this film brilliant. It was truly very good. Nicholas Cage is my favourite actor and this was not a disappointment. Very interesting story and it was a great insight into the world of war and gun shipping etc. Turbulent as to what it did to the family, after fighting for what he wanted though. Fantastic.

This is a fantastic truthful and daring film exposing how complacent we are when it comes to guns supplies etc, for most of us it's not in my back yard. So this is a very good factual and stark exposure of what we are complacent about. At the end in the credits I was shocked to see we are in the top five of nations who actively participate in this trade. This film should be compulsory viewing to make people stop this trading and its inhumane consequences. This film certainly left its mark on me. Very, very good!

If, like me, you espouse to be a pacifist, just watch this film to see how the odds are stacked against us big time. If you think humanity will ever be converted from their love of guns and weapons and hatred of other people who they wish to subjugate or who don't agree with them about religion or politics or anything else that us humans don't agree about, then think again, because it won't ever come to pass unless we're invaded by some sort of alien power or we wipe ourselves out. You see, we're probably the nastiest creatures on the planet because we can use our hands to make things, and a lot of what we make is very very nasty. Anyway, that's what this film is all about, and it's a very good film, with the Nicholas Cage character trying to get this message over to us, even though he's one of the worst people on the planet. I sincerely hope that Armageddon doesn't come, but perhaps those good aliens will come one day and put us all to shame

    What a film

    One of the best films i have ever seen. Story 10/10 Acting 9. 6, Directing 8. 9, music, 8. 5, extras, 1/10.

This story of the film is well told and directed and the story told is one of the best if not the best i've come across in a film.

Watch this movie if you like anything with some depth and seriousness.

Yuri Orlov leaves family business to become arms dealer dragging in his brother on and off who is into girls and cocaine. Film starts in early 80s and ends in noughties with some great imagery and effects. No Gorbachev, Bush in it but there is image of Reagan shot to bits (no Maggie or Major either). Dream lifestyle, global travel, exotic locations... and it is told mostly in narrative like autobiography or memoirs. If you liked Catch 22 you won't be disappointed.
