From a romantic and a literature lover, this is a fairy tale brought to the screen, dont ignore it...

Possibly one of the most underrated and lesser appreciated classical novels made up for a movie, it is a classic work with both only fantastically beautiful scenery and costume but the story is that of a fantastic love. It has all the elements a love story requires, test of strength, strong characters, rivals in love, action, adventure and an ending that will win your heart. Lorna Doone is one of the all time great romances, written by Blackmore more than a century ago, it still has the ability to win the heart with its story. A Good Period Drama
By a customer , 27 Feb 2012If it is a period drama that you want, then please have a go at this. Although not the best that the BBC has produced lately, it was worth a watch as the setting and costumes were believeable for the period.
I have to say that it was a little drawn out at times therefore must agree with some of the comments made by previous reviewers ... but having said this, the cast gelled well and this version of Lorna Doone is definately worth watching.- Was this review helpful to you?

Badly acted
By a customer from UK , 27 Feb 2011The story is a good one and ticks all the boxes for me as a period drama fan - my problem is the acting was so dire that I just wanted to turn it off, especially the actress who plays Lorna. She looks the part fair enough but no where near convincing in the role. Ruined what could have been a blinder.- Was this review helpful to you?
