This is seen to be the first von Trotta film in a relatively large collection that features the subject of terrorism and women. Schlondorff also returned to make another film in reunified Germany on the topic. Both filmmakers belonged to the 1970s movement of the New German Cinema, which commented on political issues at the time.

I feel it is well acted, though the music is not particularly well done. Angela Winkler performs the main role well; a women who is labelled a terrorist, manipulated by the right-wing press and ultimately becomes a murderer because of the society around her. A real critique of West German media and sucessfully portrays an uncomfortable situation during a period of political upheaval.

  • Very poor blu ray quality

As with other titles in the Studio Canal first release of blu rays this is very disappointing. No effort has been made to upgrade the dvd quality - in fact to me this looks like a straight copy of the dvd to blu ray. Bad marks to Studio Canal for a very poor set of blu ray discs.
