Timeless is both an overused and appropriate description of this engaging drama, that stands up very well despite elements that inevitably look dated. It is, though, easy to brush these aside as the film belies its age (74 years !) and sustains its pace and interest for a modern day audience. This is, for me, a definitive Frank Capra film ; thought-provoking and with a feel-good factor that few directors have mastered since. I dimly recall a 1960s remake (with Peter Finch ?) which was nothing like as good as this.
A treat for anyone who loves film.
