What a great nostalgia trip. I remember seeing this series in the 70's and I enjoyed it then. Now it's a great nostalgia trip. It shows a time in Greece before mass tourism took over. If you like the main actors you should enjoy this series. It looks very dated and low budget, although some of it was shot on location at the Cretian resort of Aghios Nikolaos. Maurice Denham shows his class as an actor. I like the story line of Erik Sheppard, played by Ian Hendry, fighting his demons. Sadly Ian Hendry had similar demons. It has a quality which is seldom found in modern dramas. The last disk in the series has only one episode.
I saw this series in 1972. Over the years I have often thought about it but did not think I would ever be able to see it again. When I saw it was available on DVD I was absolutely delighted, but worried that with the passing of years it would not look so good. I need not have worried! It is every bit as good now as it was then. The acting is flawless, the scenery is as attractive and the underlying storyline rather better than I remembered. It is an interesting series because each episode stands alone but the viewer always wonders how the underlying story will end. Thoroughly recommended.
