I agree with other reviewers that this is a rare failure from Malle. A slightly pretentious Alice in Wonderland, and too many lingering, slightly uncomfortable shots of Ms Harrison's 'poitrine'.
On the other hand, it is a wonderful allegory on the feminist movement and a gentle musing on sexual awakening.
Judge for yourself and have a butchers.
