Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps are young athletes with a lifelong love of basketball and each other. The movie follows them from childhood games to professional careers, all the while contrasting the different challenges men and women face while playing the same sport. Gina Prince-Bythewood's feature debut captures the characters' passion for the game, though she struggles with scenes that take place off the court. While Lathan delivers a passionate, star-making performance, her fellow actors are hobbled by underdeveloped roles, with even Alfre Woodard fighting to rise above cliché in her role as Lathan's homemaker mom.

You can have both - love and basketball...
... or whatever your passion happens to be.
This was a good movie and the acting was really good as well. The storyline was predictable but okay and the intimate scene set a good example!
Having seen The Best Man, Brown Sugar and Disappearing Acts I'm kind of fed up with seeing the same people every time I pick a blackflick. It was good to see Denis Haysbert and Alfre Woodard, though as I've always admired their acting.
The movie is about a boy and girl aged about 11 who grow up as childhood sweethearts but break up in their adult life due, according to the guy (Omar Epps), to the fact that the girl (Sanaa Lathan) has such a passion for basketball that she doesn't have enough time for him. He dumped her rather cruelly and in an immature way.
Personally if it were real life I'd say she should have dumped him ages ago (too many mood swings) and carried on with Jason her prom date (Boris Kodjoe - much better looking anyway!). But then she got pretty moody herself sometimes so maybe they deserved each other! -
