This is a pretty feeble Dick Van Dyke vehicle for Disney, ostensibly a comic update of the Robinson Crusoe story, made when the studio had seemingly completely lost touch with contemporary audiences. Fortunately, Disney bounced back, but movies such as this one, featuring a chimp from outer space, didn't help. It's nice, though, to see the big screen's Suzie Wong, Nancy Kwan, as Van Dyke's love interest. There's not much else of value and, unsurprisingly, director Byron Paul barely worked again.
Slow-paced family comedy with very few laughs.
