Whatever happened to Corey Haim? The former teen star ended up in straight-to-video fodder, which seems such a travesty in light of his excellent performance in this sweet, simple and cliché-free study of first love. As Lucas, the serious kid whom half the school wouldn't notice unless they tripped over him, he is warm, witty and wise beyond his years, and his earnest conversations with heart's desire Kerri Green are small masterpieces of observation. A good all round family film.Suitable for all ages.A typical 1st love story set around a school baseball team.A good story line with no nasty shocks.Would probably be to tame for the teenager of today.
This film is one of Corey Haims earliest roles (7th movie) before making a big name for himself in the 'Lost Boys'.
Haim plays 'Lucas', a young 14 year old who falls in lust with a 16 year old girl during the summer holidays. A heart warming tale that will make you think twice about that one shy quiet guy in the big glasses that never has a lot to say! Every school has one! I recommend this move to any Corey Haim fan.
At last Marty has his Oscar! The relief in the auditorium was palpable, and as one the audience rose to salute the American filmmaker who has been at the forefront of his craft for more than 30 years. It must have been a relief for Messrs Spielberg, Coppola and Lucas, too, who presented the award for Best Picture - it would have been a terrible embarrassment if their old friend had been overlooked yet again, at the seventh attempt. So Marty won Best Director, and then watched from the wings as Read more
