Berg's misanthropic dystopia effectively brought to life. Lulu is a modern Pandora, a vision of woman created as divine punishment for the misdeeds of men, updated to 20s Germany. Unfortunately an already convoluted story gets even more confusing when Lulu's lovers are all dressed and made up to look identical. However Laura Aikin inhabits the title role with a powerful performance that transcends the misogyny of the story. All in all i preferred the Glyndebourne production that also has the 'missing' third act not completed by Berg.- Was this review helpful to you?

(2)Stunning work
By a customer , 12 Dec 2011Ok, a bit over the top at times and I now know where Rupert Gould nicks most of his ideas from. But all the same, it's a real acting peformance from Laura Aikin- Was this review helpful to you?
