  • These films are great fun

    [Highly rated reviewer]

The character of Lupin the 3rd is best well known in the classic 'The Castle Of Cagliostro', which is the best (and most child-friendly) of the many films the character appears in. However, the other films, such as this one, are extremely entertaining in a similar style to Cagliostro, so if you've seen and enjoyed that, I suggest a rent of this one. The only real problem with it is a couple of scenes that stop it being family fun, so I wouldn't rent it for the kids (rent Cagliostro for that), but if you enjoyed the fun of that film and are a little more adult, this is perfect silly fun.

  • Typical Lupin III shenanigans.

Not the best of the Lupin III films, but still full of the typical shenanigans you've come to expect. It's English dubbed only though, despite the details saying it's also in Japanese (please easyCinema, get the details correct!!), which does detract somewhat from the fun.

  • Voice over sucked so hard the sides of my TV caved in.

First off, it's quite a good movie. I sat happily through the whole thing and enjoyed it thoroughly. Not as good as Miyazaki's original but entertaining. However, there are many moments where very large erotic boobs pop out for no reason whatsoever to harm the self esteem of super models worldwide. The dub is also awful, how they could get some of the actors voices so wrong for the characters is funny in it's own right and the animation was obviously done on less of a budget than Ghibli films.

Sadly our master thief isn't as cool in this Movie, For some reason he is often reduced to a blonde babe ogling drooler, and at worst a wuss transitioning into potential molester. In the other movie he was goofy but basically totally cool and all the girls were after him. In this one the tables have been flipped and he's lusting after all the women who seem oddly bashful about their exploding blouse problems despite choosing to wear such ridiculous clothes in the first place.

In the final analyses however it's pretty good fun and recommend at least 1 viewing.

I buying this film one day.

Great characters in a wonderfully sill plot. I couldn't expect more from a cartoon.

One note 'The Castle of Caglistro' is much better (I reccomend you see it) but more serious and with none of the nudity that appears in this film.

Like everyone says: 'It's a good laugh.' Better than your normal cartoons and has brilliant characters. I'll be watching other installments of Lupin III.

Okay lets settle somethign before we start. This isn't as good as Castle of Castiliago reason Miazaki is a genius and the people who made this episode merely competant.

So if you want another Miazaki movie go rent Howls Moving Castle it's very good. If however you want a Lupin 3 movie stay here a moment.

Okay this is movie 8 in the long running series and includes all the classic elements his on again off again lover/cometitor, mysterious samurai companion, local love intrest, big score to steal and interpol hot on his heels.

Lupin is a strange mix of James Bond, Pink Panther and Raffles a mix it picked up from the french live action series it copies. Unlike Castle this one is rated more highly as are most of the others as it features exposed breasts, torture scenes and other elements aimed at a more (or depending on your point of view less) mature audience.

If you've never seen a Lupin movie before this will make some level of sense but won't thrill you as you're coming in a long way into the series. If however you're intrested in our lovable if lecherous rogue then it's worth sneaking a look at this one just remember higher age rating, not Miazaki not intended for the kids
