I enjoyed watching this concert with Luther and I wished that I had known he was in town during that time, in the 90's. He was as usual terrific and he is such a wonderful performer. Luther sings and sounds good in concert as well as on his records and in the studio. He is so talented. This DVD concert shows some of Luther's passions about his music and his performances, and how he connects so passionately with his auidience. A concert with Luther is worth more than gold. He is such a warm performer. One feels he is dedicating his show to you personally. Luther started this show in honoring his band and orchestera and London Philharmonic orchestra and the Gospel Choir who in my book sounded better than luther's 3 back up singers. That Gospel group were wonderful. This concert reminds us of how talented and ingenious the talents of Luther Vandross has been in our lives. I miss him so much and the world needs another Luther.
I own this on DVD and watch it over and over again. This is Luther at his best, pure genius and he sings so effortlessly at London's Royal Albert Hall. Backed up by his long term friends Lisa Fischer, Ava Cherry and the amazing voice of Kevin Owens (formerly of Ray, Goodman & Brown).
This night was dedicated to the songs Luther loved, not his own and many on here are of covers, but his interpretation of them, and boy does he hit the right buttons, soulful, melodic and you feel you are there, there are one or two of his own songs like Never Too Much and Give Me The Reason. ---- And if your thinkin is this the concert Mariah Carey comes out and sings Endless Love with Luther, yes you are right, and NO you wont see it as I think there were Money Rights issues and it never made it to this DVD, but it was a perfect rendition by both of them and this can be found on the Luther Essential DVD.
All I can say is, if you like Luther, this is a MUST!!!
