Superb new police dramaBy Fudgefase (6 reviews) from Edinburgh , 05 Jun 2010
[Highly rated reviewer]Luther is one of the best police dramas I've seen for a long time. Idris Elba, fresh from the grittiness of 'The Wire', brings a consummate professionalism to the meaty role of John Luther, a top detective who is constantly at war with the darkness within himself. Superb acting by Elba, his 'natural' English accent without a trace of his time spent in the US, and a very strong supporting cast including Stephen Macintosh, lifts this drama way beyond the usual fare for TV. Luther is riveting television, a brilliant new character and a must-see event. Murder, kidnapping, psychopathic stalkers and a propensity for violence all raise the bar for police dramas to a new level when dealt with by John Luther. I sincerely hope series 1 won't be the last we see of him.

At last something good on teleBy acidmoto (5 reviews) from Feltham , 13 Nov 2011Very good series about time the british made a decent program with believable content. Idris Elba is so cool at playing a pshyco cop with a personal life crisis and has a great way of achieving results with unscrupulous methods...excellent program bring on the next series.I loved this program and looked forward to each episode. Not since spiral, wallander and the killing (danish version)have i enjoyed television so much I have 400 chanels to choose from and i end up watching love film from my tele.
Great SeriesBy a customer , 04 Nov 2011Love, Love, Love Luther - cannot wait to watch the second series!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the content and the drama of the episodes.
Very disappointingBy a customer , 26 Oct 2011So, take one clever cop, add one clever girl (Alice) and waste them chasing OTT butchery. This show is a huge missed opportunity. Instead of being smart and sophisticated, the show degenerates into slasher mode. Season 2 is downright boring. The game is to predict the cliches - which one can do with one's eyes closed. If BBC plans a series 3, pray they hire some new writers.

More brilliant BBC dramaBy djcooper (16 reviews) from Loughborough , 26 Sep 2011I highly recommend this series.
I watched it first time round on BBC and have now rented it again after recently watching series two on BBC. Its well paced, and has great performances throughout. Theres some disturbing and high quality guest performances as the series progresses and some interesting relationships that develop as time goes on.
Once youve watched it get series two. Slightly different setup for series two (Im not spoiling anything here) but its more a series of two-parters with a general theme. If you liked this and want some more quality BBC drama try Sherlock too, series 2 of that is coming up in the next few months.
