MX Superfly

THQ has released Motocross, Supercross and Freestyle motorcycle games for a number of platforms, and has now brought a combination of the three together in the form of MX Superfly for PlayStation 2, featuring, as per usual, Ricky Carmichael.

Given the option to either create a rider of your own or choose from several other more familiar faces, players are free to race in several game modes including Career and Exhibition. Admittedly, Superfly's controls are a little awkward to begin with and take a little getting used to, but that's true of many good games. But it only takes about an hour before you feel completely comfortable with the Dual Shock controller. You'll be winning races in no time, provided you can beat Superfly's cunning opponents to the finish line.

Superfly boasts a great number of circuits, most of which include well-placed bumps and hills. Superfly isn't just a question of racing, it's a test of timing, skill and speed. Hitting a bump as you land will lose you valuable seconds, and almost guarantee defeat.

Freestyle is also a much welcome option. It drops the focus on racing, and concentrates on stunts in tough competitions. There's even a Stunt Track Editor that allows players to customise their game, giving a great level of freedom.

Five multi-player modes and a plethora of mini-games ensures MX Superfly has the longevity and variety needed in a game of this calibre. It's extensive, authentic, and just downright playable.
