If you do not find French humour funny then do not rent this film. You have to enjoy farce and French-style slapstick - if you have watched many French comedies, you will know what I mean! This film is not completely terrible, but the comedy will not necessarily appeal to Anglo-Saxon tastes. The cast of Josiane Balasko and Daniel Auteuil are good and there are some interesting ideas in it.
This is a bit of a mixed bag, a wild comic fantasy in which some sequences work and some don't, and maybe there are one or two too many plot twists, but the performances are terrific and Daniel Auteuil is a real delight as the demon, playing the evil tempter to the hilt.
I had no idea he could be so broad - and so funny. Very enjoyable.
