Not his kind of woman

Macao is not a great film. It is slow paced with an abrupt ending that has possibly one of the lamest closing lines of dialogue. Set in a noir-ish, crowded, multi-lingual city where people go to disappear and where detectives are murdered in the opening scene it could almost be a 1950s Blade Runner. Only not as good as that would have been. Jane Russell and Robert Mitchum have none of their on-screen chemistry - or sharp dialogue - of their previous encounter in His Kind Of Woman (1951) - a far superior film.- Was this review helpful to you?
