I was sent this version of Macbeth by mistake, but decided to give it a go anyway. My resolve did not last long. This monochrome theatrical recreation is pretentious, dismal and highly distasteful. Even the usually flawless Judi Dench couldn't rescue it, while the close-ups of the youngest witch drooling on stage are quite simply revolting. Watch the dynamic Jason Connery/Helen Baxendale version instead.
