    [Highly rated reviewer]

Gerard Butler has his best role to date playing real life person Sam Childers, a down and out in America who is hooked on drugs and involved in dealing them. Things come to a head when he ends up brutally stabbing a hitchhiker who tries to attack him and his friend, and dumping his body on the side of the road. He looks to his wife, a born again Christian for help and his life evolves in more ways than one....

In a very realistic portrayal of the crisis in Sudan, understandably this is a heartbreaking film especially because the barbarism still continues today, however Gerard Butler's character breaks that up with his inspirational speeches and drive. He reinforces that sense of urgency about not sitting in some board room talking, but about 'taking action'.

All in all, a must see film!

Well worth a look, an interesting real life story dealing with child warriors and a serious ongoing conflict. One of Gerard Butlers best performances.

I wasn't expecting much from this, as some real films don't live upto much. But this was really interesting, it scares you what happens in africa.

Well this was not what I thought it would be. At first I very nearly stopped watching as it appeared to be going down the route of typical old biker druggie in US looking pathetic and trying to be young again....blah,blah. But wait- what';s this? actually an excellently portrayed story [true no less] of a Damacene moment that grew into bricks and mortar down right ACTUAL help for the most horrendously needy children in the World. I'd say that this would be a good film to show to the know-it-all teens who think they've got it tough and see no harm in taking everything from society without putting anything back .Heart breaking and poignant and so very uplifting to watch, this guy is what a REAL saint is all about, hard work and determination to improve the lot of the needy. DO WATCH THIS TO THE VERY END OF THE CREDITS TO SEE ACTUAL FOOTAGE OF THE CHARACTERS PORTRAYED, you'll be in tears of both joy and anger.
