I have to say i was quite surprised how much I like this film. I was also very surprised at how well Hill played his part. Not saying that he's a bad actor, he's far from that, but wasn't sure how he would pull it off.
I found this an endearing film, with interesting characters and the fact they did end up together, with nothing but each other made me have a huge smile on my face.
If you want glamour, beefcakes,(apart from the brief ship scene!) rampant sex, don't get this. The simplicity and in a sense sweetness is what held me. Their relationship held me and even though the Hill as a captain of a ship moment, seemed a little strange, all in all I throughly enjoyed this film.
It did have moments where maybe it lingered to long on a bit of water or something, but still, I enjoyed it for what it is. I loved that Hannah being so shy because of his birthmark, found someone who wanted him as he was... bless!
I liked this because it wasn't like a lot of gay themed films I've seen, didn't go for the glamour, just a very down to earth, British made film. I state the British not as some nationalistic thing, just it is very British made, if that make sense. The kind of down to earth, no thrills, interesting peer into two peoples lives that some British film makers are very good at doing.
So yeah, I liked it lots!
