    Loved It!

This is a great girlie film, the best I have seen in a while. Think 'My Best Friends Wedding' but the other way round when the male lead (Patrick Dempsey for all fans of Greys Anatomy), an eternal bachelor, realises that he has feelings for his female best friend while she is away working in Scotland only to find that when she returns she has met someone, is getting married and wants him to be her Maid of Honour. Romantic, funny and totally absorbing this is one to watch. Could have walked straight back into the cinema and watched all over again!

    Pap!

American nonsense, irritating and not very funny really. One funny joke recycled throughout the film about three times rendering it desperate but remotely passable quality comedy it is not. I thought a little more research into the Scottish way of life might not have gone a miss. I am not Scottish so should I care but if I were I would find the film even more cringe worthy. I can live with over-sentimental-slush but there has to be some element of the comedy factor or it has to be endearing. This film hasn't either attribute unfortunately. I did watch it all the way through but afterwards I wondered why and whether it was just a case of too much effort required in order to get up and switch the telly/dvd player off.

    Made of Honour

Could Patrick Dempsey ride his small screen popularity in Grey's Anatomy to a big time movie career? It's been done before: just look at George Clooney. The comparison comes to mind not just because the roles and the shows are similar, but because Dempsey exudes a similar relaxed, sexy charm. Like Clooney, he seems deeply comfortable with himself, which is why he can play a confirmed bachelor who refuses to see the same woman on two nights running (the 'back-to-back rule') and not come off as...
