An all-guns-blazing follow-up to Dirty Harry, with a storyline different enough from the original to grip the attention. Clint Eastwood is on fine form as no-nonsense cop Dirty Harry Callahan, yet again relying on his own instincts as he investigates the ruthless killings of prominent criminals in San Francisco. There's excellent support, too, including a pre-Starsky and Hutch David Soul, and the chase scene involving motorbikes during the climax is superbly staged. However, it lacks much of the original's moral complexity, with more action favoured.

Clint Eastwood's upcoming 80th birthday will be celebrated in America with a marathon of his movies. Bosses at the Turner Classic Movies channel will show Eastwood's movies back to back for 24 hours, and debut The Eastwood Factor, a new documentary about the actor/director's career, narrated by Morgan Freeman.
