It's fascinating to watch Bernard Haitink controlling of the massive forces in the Mahler 2. This is no sentiment interpretation and all the better for that.
I have had the good fortune to attend three live performances of this work, heard several CDs and watched two television performances one, also very memorable, by Simon Rattle with the CBSO.
This for my money (quite literally, having rented the film, I then bought the DVD) is as good as it gets.
