With this film's backstory - director Nick van Pallandt contracted cancer and died between completing this (his first film) and getting it released - I really wanted to love it, but the best I can say is, this alleged rom-com is so shallow it makes the work of the loathsome Richard Curtis look almost profound.
Although the film has constant references to old, classic, black and white movies of a bygone era, it has none of the charm, wit or imagination it so desperately strives for - and I've seen more chemistry in a sterile surgical swab than there is between the two vacuous leads.
