[Highly rated reviewer]I'm sorry but a musical cast with people who cannot sing and cannot dance says 'disaster' to me.
Some say that this film is so cheesy bad it is brilliant. No! It is so bad it is BAD!
Even when Meryl Streep shows that she can sing a bit, she does it like a pub karoake singer, seeking to put too much emotion and meaning in to every single word.
The choreograhpy is appalling.
Yes, Abba music is wonderfully catchy. Yes, the music may bring back great memories for many watching. However, the film itself is just rubbish and I defy anyone to honestly say otherwise.

Mamma Mia? Infernale anima tortura fiaccando. More likeBy RelentlessRob (57 reviews) from King's Lynn , 29 Aug 2013
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideImagine an hour and forty-ish minute long episode of the Jeremy Kyle show called 'My teenager daughter wants to know who he dad is but I've narrowed it down to three' and that's about all you need to know. For legal reasons this film is not a blatant rip off of the plot to 'three men and a baby' or 'three men and a little lady'. Set to soundtrack that is like a dentist drill to the soul composed by the four horsemen of the musical apocalypse ABBA. The fact the cast can hardly sing at all and the acting is just as great distracts you from the gut wrenchingly dubious plot. If your wife makes you watch this and you don't have children get a divorce; you are either being punished or she is a sadist. If your girlfriend makes you watch this DUMP HER as before the end credits.
All the Abba favourities in a movieBy riskysmith (150 reviews) , 11 Jul 2013I have always enjoyed Abba songs, and have seen this movie many times on television. The last time was on ITV this week. With it appearing so many times I do not think I would buy a disc, but whilst waiting for my 19 priority rental discs, I added to see if blu ray added anything. I did not think the slightly improved sound and picture worth the extra cost. It however is an excellent movie with all the Abba hits including my favourite Waterloo, and if you do not have a tv. do not hesitate rent it.
Long live Abba!By okcole (31 reviews) from Kinross , 04 Jun 2013Just to provide a little context: normally I stay well away from musicals. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of musicals I have enjoyed. So, I surprised myself most of all by how much I enjoyed this. Sure, some of the singing was off-key and the dancing 'idiosyncratic' (to be euphemistic) but somehow, it all added to the appeal. Above all else stands the music. I'd almost forgotten how much fun Abba's music was and remains. Add some beautiful scenery, a quaint set and lots of quirky extras and you arrive at a charming outcome. Perhaps, not being a 'musicalcoholic' I have a different sense of what good/bad, right/wrong in a show such as this. All I can say is that I enjoyed this movie immensely
Passable and a singalong festivalBy a customer , 17 Apr 2013The actors/actresses obviously enjoyed themselves (esp Meryl Streep) but as others have said, it is a pity that the singing wasn't better - but that is probably why the majority of them are actors and not singers. Don't expect any great plot lines, dialogue, exceptional singing or scenery (despite the location in Greece) - this is just the film version of a stage musical to highlight ABBA songs. Passes an hour and a bit but really, not what I want from a film.
What's not to like?By The KnightWatcher (629 reviews) from Gloucestershire , 04 Apr 2013Loved it. So much fun., and with a good yarn. Very watchable. All star cast and what fun they would have had making it! A very good film.
