Poor Austen adaptationBy a customer from Darlington, England , 18 Mar 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]This is a very disappointing adaptation, seemingly designed more as a vehicle for Billy Piper than a proper adaptation of what is admittedly Austen's most complex novel. There are not only several key scenes omitted but the storyline (especially the settings) is often changed seemingly without purpose. There is little empathy with the characters, and no real examination of Fanny's inner feelings. Amongst the better performances are Hayley Atwell as Mary Crawford and Hougles Hodge as Sir Thomas.

For girls to watch without their boyfriends )By LanaRay (2 reviews) , 04 Jul 2012I'm sorry but I didn't read the book. So my review is not about the quality of an adaptation but about the quality of a film. I enjoyed watching it. The actors are all pleasure to look at and listen to. I love Jane Austen's stories. So this one was not an exception. I'm sure girls would love to watch this film.
I dont really like old fashioned films, but i LOVE this!!By a customer , 26 Mar 2012I dont really like old fashioned dramas, but i really enjoyed this one, i dont think there is much point to the story line, but it is fill of love, romance and 'old fashion rules' a must see!!!
Mansfield ParkBy a customer , 21 Jan 2012Another example of Jane Austin's wonderful use of the English language, but you do need to sit quietly and watch this film to fully appreciate it, let some else see to the children/drinks etc. Billy Pipe continues to demonstrate her talents.
Jane Austen Collection - Mansfield ParkBy Bargemaster (4 reviews) , 16 Nov 2011Definately a women's film. Quality excellent, but for me, not enough action. At 2 hours long I struggled to keep attentive.
A Pleasant SurpriseBy a customer , 28 Sep 2011It was a pity that Billie Piper did not have a bigger role in the first half of the film.
Her acting was very good, as were the costumes and scenery.
The 2 hours passed very quickly, enjoyed the film a lot.
