With an incredible knowledge of the truth about modern events and how the media manipulate our views, Manufacturing Consent tells the truth of our world through the eyes of Noam Chomsky. It's shocking and terrifying. Unless you've done your own research (and how many of us have the time?) there's little chance of understanding this new world, of how the corporations and governments, with full collusion from the media, control how we think - allowing us to allow them to rape and pillage both the rest of the world and us.
Along with this, we get a bit of insight into Noam Chomsky himself, an apparently unprepossessing man, who does not blame people for not realizing what's happening and does not even consider himself exceptionally intelligent (in spite of single-handedly changing the field of linguistics), but instead considers himself fortunate in having the time and energy needed to pursue these issues.
As an expatriot American, I implore everyone to see Manufacturing Consent. Chomsky asks us, 'Do the facts matter, or don't they?' Watch this video and decide for yourself whether they do, and even what that truly means.
This is a very interesting subject but it's presented in such a dry, academic way with very little imagination gone into the making of the film.
It mainly consists of clips of Chomsky in interviews and presentations talking about the subject, and as he's a very intelligent academic it comes across like a university lecture. So if you are looking for a lighter Michael Moore type film, this is not for you.
