How could you not love this film!
Convinced my 4year old to watch it and she was enthralled for the entire time- except when the daddy was sad but that was 2hrs of silence until then. Got her back with 'lets go fly a kite' which she sang for the rest of the eve,
My 2 year old just kept telling me to sshh! when I was singing all the songs- which everyone has engrained deep in their minds waiting to be able to be sung with gusto again!
Treat yourself! (though your family might not be so grateful!)- Was this review helpful to you?

(124)Fantasy at its best - a classic
By PaulHappy (144 reviews) , 08 Feb 2013Although this is a 1964 movie it still stands up remarkably well against newer technologically enhanced 'magic' films. It is a really good 'feel good' movie that has a lovely and gentle script and a superb cast - Julie Andrews is the perfect Mary Poppins (cannot see any other actress surpassing her in this role). Dick Van Dyke, David Tomlinson and all the cast are a joy. The music of course is truly memorable. Mary Poppins is a national institution and as a classic each generation will no doubt enjoy this production. (Walt Disney were the film makers who based the film on the Mary Poppins books by P. L. Travers (a pen name) an Australian who emigrated to England where she wrote the books) It is fantasy at its best and hope its around for years to come.- Was this review helpful to you?

Nostalgic heaven
By Bean69 (24 reviews) , 05 Dec 2012Took me back years and the chimney sweep dance scene is a classic. Dick Van Dyck's phoney accent adds to the allround cornyness. Loved it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Could never disappoint!
By kia_picanto (4 reviews) , 16 Sep 2012A rather different Mary Poppins to she in P. L. Travers' books, but a magical nanny and film nevertheless. A must-see classic that will not disappoint, with some brilliant British humour and impressive early special effects.- Was this review helpful to you?
