In spite of the rather annoying Voice-Over in some parts this provided an interesting look at the life and music of Ray Charles. It reflected on his childhood and the significance thoughout his entire life of his mother and her attitude to his blindness. It provided clippage of his first wife and an interesting interview with his son as well as the more commonly seen clips of Ray's performances and the usual interest in his relationship with his female backing group! It introduced you to the memories and observations of fellow musicians of his eras. The clippage of his early days in Haarlem were in themselves worth watching this for, especially if you are a Billie Holiday's Era fan like myself.
It presented a musician, a junkie, a philosopher, a sensual, courageous, blind-man and how his music spanned from the late Forties to the Twentyfirst century - Ray Charles.
